Commercials
This is a section dedicated to showcasing the commercials made by my students. These commercials were used to teach students how to use logos, ethos, and pathos in order to persuade an audience.
First students complete product research on one product throughout the decades. This research includes print advertisements and commercials.
Next, teams, pairs, or individuals decide if they want to make a fictitious product or a real product. All commercials made with real products are sent off to the companies.
Then, students create scripts, prop lists, and storyboards. Finally, the filming and editing take place.
Students have made commercials for local companies, national companies, clubs, and sports teams on campuses.
*This also bridges into creative writing where students write restaurant reviews.

Example letter written to companies
Red Bull
Dear Red Bull,
In school, we were prompted to make a commercial for a brand/company that we liked; my classmate and I chose Red Bull! We gathered a couple of classmates to participate in the filming of the commercial; we live in Tahoe and care a lot about our sports, so I thought it would be a good idea to gather some of our best athletes! We then decided we wanted to send it to the actual Red Bull company. I read through the Content & Media Partnerships, and Brand Partnerships, and we are interested in having Red Bull show our commercial!
We would also be open to future opportunities and hope you will consider our commercial! Enjoy and thank you!
